Grade Syllabus

The yellow belt syllabus is designed to introduce students to the concepts and principles in Ed Parker's American Kenpo system. These concepts and principles are the building blocks of the system. Students can logically and sequentially progress through the various belt ranks and increase their knowledge of martial arts. The system we teach is a study of motion as applied to the art of self defence. As with any art continued practice is required to enhance our efforts. While a new coloured belt is presented upon the successful attainment of each new rank, the belt in and of itself is secondary to the knowledge acquired and the journey taken
Along with the physical and technical requirements we encourage students to develop a sense of community activism and social awareness. Our non physical components such as our Acts of Kindness Program allow for the development of the social and moral continence of our students.

5 Acts of Kindness
Perform five acts of kindness within your family or local community. These acts should be documented. Perhaps photograph or video the projects that you are working on. Examples of acts of kindness that you might undertake are:
Picking up litter in a local park.
Helping an elderly neighbour.
Collecting on behalf of a local charity.
Donating pocket money to relive suffering in the world.
(We advise parental guidance when children are undertaking these projects.)
Home Chore List
Compile a list of how you help at home. You might do this over a week and keep a note of what you did. You can photograph your efforts or video them.
School Chore List
Ask your teacher if you may help in the class room. Ask your teacher to sign a note stating that you have helped out.
